Many communities have local service clubs that offer community engagement opportunities, such as Rotary Clubs.

The Rotary Club of Milwaukee provides a connection to the area through community service that aligns with local and global goals.

  • Kiwanis Club of Milwaukee

Kiwanis International is a global organization of members dedicated to serving the children of the world. Kiwanis and its family of clubs—nearly 600,000 members strong—annually raise more than US$100 million and dedicate more than 18 million volunteer hours to strengthen communities and serve children. Members of every age attend regular meetings, experience fellowship, raise funds for various causes and participate in service projects that help their communities. Members also make an impact throughout the world by participating in Kiwanis International’s new global campaign for children, The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus.

  • West Allis Lion's Club

Lions have a dynamic history. Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects – including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled.

Meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 6:30 pm at the State Fair Inn, 8101 W. Greenfield Ave. West Allis, WI 53214.

Mutual Aid & Grassroots Networks

Many communities rely on grassroots and informal networks to meet urgent needs. There may be opportunities to get involved through mutual aid networks, food distribution efforts, neighborhood action teams, or other groups that aren’t often listed on volunteer platforms.

  • Mutual Aid Disaster Relief

Mutual Aid Disaster Relief is a grassroots disaster relief network based on the principles of solidarity, mutual aid, and autonomous direct action. Our national network is made up of many eco-activists, social justice activists, global justice activists, street medics, herbalists, permaculturalists, mutual aid organizers, black liberation organizers, community organizers, and others who are actively organizing around supporting disaster survivors in a spirit of mutual aid and solidarity.

Got a skill or interest (graphic design, accounting, arborist work, carpentry, counseling, etc.) and want to use it towards grassroots solidarity-based disaster relief efforts? Tell us! For general volunteering and beginning the process of plugging you into Mutual Aid Disaster Relief ongoing organizing, you can email us at [email protected] to let us know how you want to be involved. Or connect with us on Facebook

  • Open Collective

Cooperation Milwaukee is an egalitarian community-based collective dedicated to organizing cooperative economic enterprises, mutual aid projects, and community assemblies for mutual education. Open Collective was founded by idealists to make online communities more sustainable. What began as a tool for open source and grassroots groups has grown into a global infrastructure for transparency, collaboration, and shared financial stewardship.

  • MKE Grocery Buddy

Inspired by similar grassroots movements, MKE Grocery Buddy brings Milwaukee-area neighbors together to provide direct support through mutual aid with groceries and essentials. The SNAP delay showed how big the gaps in food support truly are and we’re here to help fill them—together.

As a MKE Grocery Buddy, you can help in two ways:
    1) Directly funding a neighbor’s groceries
    2) Purchasing and delivering groceries to your neighbor

  • Grassroots North Shore

Located on the North Shore of suburban Milwaukee, including Ozaukee County, Grassroots North Shore (GRNS) is an all-volunteer, not-for-profit, political action committee dedicated to voter education and engagement for progressive issues and candidates. GRNS sponsors both issues forums (e.g., School Boards Under Attack) and candidate forums (e.g., the leading Democratic primary candidates for US Senate), and produces a weekly newsletter. Founded in 2004, it is widely recognized as a reliable source of information and a conduit for a wide range of activities (postcard writing, canvassing, phone banking) that enable citizens to participate effectively in our civic life, and in defense of our democracy.
