Lake Co. Habitat for Humanity, Inc., established in 1983, is one of the first affiliates in Michigan. We have long held the dubious honor of being Michigan’s poorest county, with 16.4% of all population living below the poverty line. While we have the 8th lowest population, we are one of the fastest growing counties in Michigan, and have the greatest need for decent, affordable housing. To date, we have built 87 new homes, and comleted major repair work on two others. We are currently the largest builder of homes in Lake Co. We have been able to accomplish this with the help of many volunteers who come from all walks of life to support our cause.
