| About | The Al-Van Humane Society (AVHS) was founded in 1968 as a non-profit animal welfare organization dedicated to providing emergency food and shelter for homeless pets. In 2012, Al-Van adopted no-kill best practices. AVHS rehomes companion animals that can no longer remain with their families; provides food and shelter for over 600 animals annually from Allegan and Van Buren counties; and offers community education on responsible and compassionate pet ownership. AVHS is dedicated to reducing the number of stray and unwanted animals by spaying and neutering all animals prior to adoption, and offering an annual low cost community spay and neuter clinic with the help of grant funding. |
