Care at Home New Jersey was founded to help socially isolated, homebound patients. As part of our program, we give our patients free, easy to use computers that they can use to stay connected with family and friends through email and Skype. They can also play games, check the weather and the news, create photo albums and surf the web. Our Social Worker Skypes with our patients once a week to check in on them and give them the opportunity to socialize, and to encourage them to connect with others.
As part of our program, we also send volunteers to spend time with these socially isolated patients, to keep them company, and also to help and encourage them to use the computer we have given them. We want the patients to get comfortable reaching out to family and friends through the computer. The computer is specially designed for seniors and is easy to navigate.
