| About | The Net exists for families and individuals in poverty to see life change and be encouraged and strengthened to the glory of God. The Net began informally in April of 2011, with the goal of rising to meet the deep needs in our community for healthy relationships and mental health services. The name is based on a passage in the Bible. In Luke 5, Jesus called his future disciples to follow him with the promise they would be “fishers of men.” The Net exists to provide a safety net and gather people together–for the purpose of being life change, encouragement, and strengthening for families and individuals in poverty to the glory of God. We provide support and encouragement through mentoring and counseling. These services cause life change and provide holistic support thanks to our partnerships with other area non-profits and ministries. Our model brings together community partners to impact future generations of Mississippians. The Net connects licensed counselors, counselors under supervision for licensure seeking experience, and counseling students seeking practicum hours with community members who may benefit Individual, family, and group sessions are provided weekly for free or reduced fees at all locations around the metro Jackson area. These sessions are tailored to the needs of our clients, often addressing stress management, coping skills, and trauma-related issues. We also connect mentors from area churches with community members, ideally with members also receiving counseling or recently graduated from counseling. Our mentors meet once a week for spiritually-driven conversations. |
