| Mission | Nature Nexus Institute (NNI) is founded on the belief that reciprocity between communities and nature is essential to the survival of both. We seek to provide equitable and intergenerational entry points to cultivating healthy community-nature relationships. To that end, we strive to be a nexus for science, culture, art, and research endeavors that result in a new generation of change-makers and storytellers. |

Here are places to learn more or that may show current needs. Typical Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities: Docent Our field trip programs connect thousands of students each year to nature spaces within the highly urbanized Ballona Creek Watershed. Volunteer docents help make that happen! Docents receive training in local ecology and interpretation techniques and then work collaboratively to lead students in grades 3-8 on tours throughout the school year. Habitat Restoration Looking to connect with the land in your city? Consider joining a habitat restoration event. It’s a great opportunity to learn about native plants and local wildlife, all while spending some time outdoors on beautiful Baldwin Hills Parklands. Contact the organization to explore other possible ways to work together. |
