| About | Founded in 2006, Friends of the Blue Ridge Mountains (FBRM) was inspired by Lella Smith’s vision to preserve the cultural, historical, ecological, and recreational treasures of the Blue Ridge. In 2007, we became a 501(c)(3) organization, establishing our mission to protect the mountains from increasing threats like development and environmental degradation. We serve the communities of western Loudoun County and beyond, fostering partnerships, advocating for sustainable policies, and engaging the public through events and education. Key achievements include creating the Blue Ridge Conservation Alliance, earning a Stewardship Forest designation, and establishing scholarships to support young environmentalists. Today, with a strong membership and dedicated Board, we continue to preserve, enhance, and celebrate the Blue Ridge for generations to come. |
