Life after the death of a spouse can be very challenging. Those I have spoken to have difficulty finding help when they have no one else to turn to or to share those challenges with. Our communities lack programs/services for our widow/widower neighbors, even our government discriminates against those surviving spouses with no dependent children. They consider us as single and this needs to change. I am also working with my congressman’s staff to create a National Day for Widows/Widowers but change takes time, and I will continue to work on this for as long as it takes.
