Volunteer in DC National Guard

The mission of the District of Columbia National Guard is to provide mission-ready forces to protect the nation’s capital and support local and federal authorities in times of crisis. Through its dual federal and state roles, the DCNG delivers professional, disciplined service to ensure public safety, defend national security, and respond to emergencies such as natural disasters and civil disturbances. We strive to uphold the highest standards of readiness and community service, reflecting our motto, “Capital Guardians.”

The District of Columbia National Guard is a unique military organization serving both the District of Columbia and the nation, under the command of the President of the United States and the Commanding General of the DCNG. Comprising the Army National Guard, Air National Guard, and specialized units like the Capital Guardian Youth ChalleNGe Academy, we are a diverse team of citizen-soldiers and airmen dedicated to safeguarding Washington, D.C. Our members balance civilian careers with military service, embodying a commitment to community, resilience, and national defense.
