Service Clubs

Many communities have local service clubs that offer community engagement opportunities, such as Rotary Clubs.

  • The Rotary Club of Seattle (Seattle #4) is a civic service organization that brings together local leaders to foster connection and tackle community needs across the region. They host in-person meetings twice a month, collaborate on service projects, and emphasize “Service Above Self.”

  • Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief – to serve their community.

  • As part of Lions Clubs International we serve both local and global communities. Our club supports projects that include preserving sight, hearing, diabetes, combating disabilities, helping the less fortunate, serving youth, and responding to natural disasters.

  • The Lion’s Club of West Seattle is a community service organization serving numerous neighborhoods (North Admiral, Alki, White Center, Vashon Island, and more) dedicated to supporting and connecting neighbors. The club welcomes volunteers and donors to assist with their programs and services across West Seattle.

  • Founded in 1930, the Kiwanis Club of North Central Seattle is proud to serve North Seattle and the surrounding area! We are an eclectic mix of ages, genders, occupations, backgrounds, and interests. We are passionate about making our community and the world a better place for children so they can thrive.

  • Their mission is to inspire and to assist the Highline area to become a better place to live. They meet on the first Wednesday of the month,  5:30 pm at Angelo’s in Burien.

Mutual Aid & Grassroots Networks

Many communities rely on grassroots and informal networks to meet urgent needs. There may be opportunities to get involved through mutual aid networks, food distribution efforts, neighborhood action teams, or other groups that aren’t often listed on volunteer platforms.

  • Seattle Volunteers is a community group where people share and organize volunteer opportunities around Seattle—everything from food bank service, mentoring, habitat restoration, to civic projects—so members can see good causes in their feed and step in where they’re needed most.

  • Seattle Community Fridge is a mutual aid group based in fridges across Seattle stocked with food and other basic items for people to take as they need. Find all of its locations and food donation safety guidelines on its website. Its fridges are stocked with free food and nonperishable items.

  • This group provides supplies to homeless neighbors, including water in the summer, warming kits and propane for cooking in the winter, and also posts fundraisers for community members at risk of losing housing or unable to pay bills.

  • “The Eggrolls” are a group of volunteers working out of ChuMinh Tofu Deli who distribute free vegan meals and supplies every Sunday in the Seattle Chinatown-International District.
