Like most larger metro areas there are many paths to finding volunteer opportunities within our community. Some prominent organizations might assume prospective volunteers will come directly to their websites while others and smaller organizations might post on community or national volunteer recruitment sites.

In the Cincinnati area, there is one site that lists volunteer opportunities and/or organizations who engage volunteers.

  A regional directory of over 700 organizations and over 1700 “evergreen” volunteer opportunities in the greater Cincinnati area.

Often prominent organzations rely on their widespread recognition rather than posting on volunteer recruiting websites.

Volunteer centers help connect individuals and groups with organizations based on mutual needs and interests. Although Cincinnati does not have a full function volunteer center, the Cincinnati Cares organization performs some of the functions of a typical volunteer center

  Our mission is providing selfless service in the community and the world through involved and engaged members.

• Flying Pig Marathon

  The nonprofit organizer's needs 1,000s of volunteer over marathon weekend each early May.

Many communities rely on grassroots and informal networks to meet urgent needs. There may be opportunities to get involved through mutual aid networks, food distribution efforts, neighborhood action teams, or other groups that aren’t often listed on volunteer platforms.
