Volunteer in Austin’s House

To provide a safe haven for any child in need; to provide a nurturing living and learning environment; to promote the health and well-being of children and their families through assessment and appropriate intervention; to help prevent child abuse and neglect by providing education and community awareness.

Austin’s House was built and furnished entirely with private donations of cash, materials and labor. The assistance of volunteers in creating Austin’s House is truly an example of what a united community can accomplish and we need support to continue our mission.

Austin’s House is a 10 bed emergency shelter for children ages 0-18 who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. We are the only emergency children’s shelter in rural northern Nevada, so we know that when children come to us, they quite literally have no place else to go. Our specially trained staff provides help, comfort, care and support. While kids are living at Austin’s House, we ensure that they attend their regular school and any activities that they participated in before being placed with us. Through the generosity of our donors, children at the shelter may also attend field trips to performances, the zoo, museums and cultural events.
