Typical Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities:
Transport Volunteers

Transport Volunteers transport puppies between NEADS and other Service Dog organizations as well as transport breeding stock as needed.

Weekend Puppy Raisers

Weekend Puppy Raisers open their homes to one of our amazing puppies on weekends for the duration of its training.

Full-time Puppy Raisers

Full-time Puppy Raisers are dedicated volunteers who take our Service Dogs in Training into their homes and look after them for 12 to 16 months, working on critical socialization and basic obedience.

Breeder Caretakers

NEADS partners with volunteers to host our breeder dogs in their homes, then return the dogs to campus when needed for breeding and whelping.

NEADS (“NEADS Inc”, formerly known as National Education for Assistance Dog Services and Dogs for Deaf and Disabled Americans), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was established in 1976 and has trained over 1,800 Service Dog teams since its founding. NEADS is accredited by Assistance Dogs International, the internationally recognized governing body that establishes industry standards and practices.
