| About | West Virginia leads the nation in citizens with disabilities; about one in four. On the other hand, Mountaineers with disabilities have the highest unemployment rate. In Morgantown, a concerned organization is doing something about unemployment and disability. PACE Enterprises is a nonprofit, community-led organization that provides prevocational and vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, without regard to race, color, or national origin, throughout north-central West Virginia. Clients began receiving services in 1972. The organization was originally called PACE TEC. At that time, a group of dedicated parents founded the program because they recognized the special supports their sons and daughters would need to succeed as young adults. Since then, PACE has made the difference in the lives of many individuals who live with a disability. |
